stu Launches Japan's First Permanent Water Projection Show at Okinawa Zoo & Museum
stu Inc. has designed and developed innovative nighttime experiences for the Okinawa Zoo & Museum as it extends its hours into the evening. The company has created unique entertainment features, including Japan’s first permanent water projection installation and an interactive show powered by a smartphone app, adding a new dimension to Okinawa’s nighttime attractions.
■ Immersive Night Spectacle: A Symphony of Sound, Light, and Video
In collaboration with Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company, stu has created interactive nighttime content for all ages, in line with Okinawa Zoo & Museum’s core concept of “Tsunagarium” (“Connectarium”).
■ CHAMPLOO DISCO: A Nocturnal Celebration of Life
CHAMPLOO DISCO transforms the Okinawa Zoo & Museum into a vibrant nighttime playground. The “master” of the central pond becomes a DJ, hosting a lively festival where various forms of NUCHI (life) – animals, plants, spirits, and humans – come together to dance and celebrate. Visitors are treated to a spectacular outdoor show featuring a massive water screen, dazzling lights painting the night sky, and immersive music.
The show’s finale showcases animals chosen by visitors, creating a unique and interactive climax each night. Whether you prefer to clap along, sing, dance, or simply soak in the atmosphere, this distinctively Okinawan nighttime entertainment offers something for everyone.
■ Pioneering Technology: Japan’s First Permanent Water Projection Mapping
At the heart of the zoo, a state-of-the-art water screen measuring 30 meters wide and 15 meters high has been installed on a float in the central waterfowl pond. This permanent installation combines video projections, dynamic lighting, mist effects, music, and reflections on the water surface. The floating setup creates a mesmerizing effect, with images appearing to hover in mid-air, fully immersing visitors in the experience.
■ An App That Brings the Show to Life
Visitors can now shape the night’s entertainment through a custom-designed smartphone app. Throughout the zoo, illuminated signs featuring 20 different animal icons invite exploration. By scanning QR codes on these signs, visitors “capture” digital versions of the animals, which are then saved in a virtual “picture book.” Users can select their favorite animals, customize their colors and patterns, and enter them into the nightly show. This interactive element ensures that each performance is unique, composed of visitor-created characters.
■ Okinawa Zoo & Museum NIGHT ZOO: A New After-Dark Adventure

The extended hours introduce a host of new nighttime attractions, including the water projection show, the interactive app, and enhanced lighting throughout the grounds.
